Anxiety And Stress
Relief
Made Easy
Often it seems that life is like a tornado or
hurricane - and no matter how hard you try to flee,
you find yourself caught up in its destructive path.
There are finances to worry over, kids and partners to
consider, households to be managed - and the TV news has
nothing but gloom and doom!
To make matters worse, you feel you are the only one facing
such overwhelming challenges. But you're not.
You're simply experiencing a common situation felt by
millions. The good news is that there are many people and
organizations who can help you find anxiety and stress
relief.
The Family
Doctor
Unfortunately so many people today are still reluctant to
discuss anxiety and stress with their doctor.
But if you feel overwhelmed, relief should be a top
priority and a visit to your doctor may be vital. Stop for
a minute and consider the silly stigmas about mental
ill-health…
If you had chest pains or a persistent tummy ache you'd have
no qualms about going to your doctor, would you? So
what's so different about feelings of worry or anxiety?
They're all part of 'you' and are symptoms of dis-ease, signs
of something 'not right' within you. Others who tease or
comment nastily about this are usually only voicing fears about
their own mental health. Your doctor is more objective
and understanding!
Th
e first step may be medication
to bring anxiety and stress relief. That doesn't mean you are a
'mental patient'. Extreme anxiety and stress can bring
about severe physical problems, and medication often
counteracts these. But you still need to deal with the
causes and find a way of promoting anxiety and stress relief
for yourself.
Personal Time
Out
Everyone - no matter how busy they think they are! - should
take at least fifteen minutes for sheer unadulterated fun every
day. Could you even make that thirty minutes? Go
on, you deserve it! This is NOT being selfish.
Think of it as being in training to feel good about yourself
and to manage your life better. Over time you'll feel the
benefits in other areas of your life and will be more
comfortable about this time out.
So what can be done during this special
time?
Anything you fancy, so long as it's enjoyable,
is not harmful, and makes you feel good!
- Go for a walk, read a book, take a bath, play with a
pet - the list is endless. Experiment… Find whatever
works for you… whatever breaks the vicious wheel of worry
and teaches you that life can and should be lived
slower. Many people find anxiety and stress relief
through 'peaceful' activities' such as meditation, yoga, or
simply listening to music.
One thing is certain: anxiety and stress
are symptoms of a life out of balance.
Relief for anxiety and stress will only come when balance is
restored, so examine your life carefully. Often others
can help us do this, but you need to come up with something to
counter-balance the nastiness and enjoy your new forms of
anxiety and stress relief.
